Big Blast Delayed

The blast now won't happen any earlier than June 23rd, according to
officials with the National Nuclear Security Administration in North
Las Vegas.

The blast had been slated for June second at the Nevada Test
Site north of Las Vegas.

But members of the Winnemucca Indian Colony have asked a federal court to block it, claiming the federal government skipped required environmental studies, and the blast will irreparably desecrate Indian land.

The blast is planned to happen 85 miles northwest of Las Vegas.

It's expected to generate a ten-thousand-foot tall mushroom
cloud and a shock wave that'll be felt in Indian Springs -- about
35 miles northwest of Las Vegas.

The state also hasn't given the federal government authorization
for the test.
