A contractor and two couples could be looking at a $700,000 fine for that massive sewage spill last summer at Lake Tahoe.
The Lahontan Regional Water Quality Control Board will meet this Thursday. If imposed, it would be one of the largest penalties ever levied for an environmental violation at the lake.
Facing that fine are Pacific Built Incorporated and Kings Beach property owners Geoffrey and Christine Davis, and Hans and Margaret Coffeng.
The spill happened on July 19th when Pacific Built workers accidentally punctured an underground sewer main in Kings Beach while installing a private pier for the property owners.
Officials estimate 120,000 gallons of raw sewage spewed onto the beach and into the lake.
