The University of Nevada Wolf Pack opens up its season this Saturday and the expected 24-thousand fans should expect some big changes.

The school says the changes are designed to make the games safer and the stadium easier to navigate.

Season-ticket holders surveyed after last season indicated problems with concession stands, with some complaining they missed big parts of games because they were waiting on long lines. Now, the school seems confident that a few minor changes will make a major difference.

Anyone who's ever gone to a Wolfpack football game knows that concession lines outside the south end zone can be an absolute nightmare. That's why the school is doubling the number of stands in the area to increase flow

"There was a point where they did reduce the number of concessions for a while," says Kevin Salvaggio, a longtime Pack fan. "And that was kind of a pain and now that they've increased them, hopefully that will help."

The school has also opened up more general parking near Peccole Park and taken down some of the fencing that separates the concessions.

Large beer trucks that used to occupy the track area have also been removed.

"I think that's really gonna help our fans have a better experience," says Keith Hackett, Associate Athletic Director. "Because they aren't going to have to wait in line as long for things."

Also new this year is the Wolfpack family section, which has been moved from the upper grandstands all the way down to the southeast corner of the end zone in section a. The entire section is alcohol free and is a major part of the university's more family friendly approach. Something fans, seem to be embracing, at least for now.

"I think that's probably a good thing," says Judi Whiting a Wolfpack fan. "If they want to encourage families to come you need to make it family friendly."

In addition to the alcohol-free zone, police and university staff are also taking a zero-tolerance approach towards overly-aggressive fans, meaning we will likely see more arrests and ejections this year.
