Elected officials in Washoe County have agreed to create a regional authority to looks for new water sources.
The decision last night came after Reno Mayor Bob Cashell warned
that unless officials did it on their own, the Nevada Legislature
would do it for them.
Officials agreed to create a seven-member Northern Nevada Water
Authority to look for and develop new water sources.
The authority would have one voting member each from Reno,
Sparks, Washoe County, the Truckee Meadows Water Authority, Sun
Valley and South Truckee Meadows general improvement districts, and
the Reno-Sparks sewer treatment plant.
