LAS VEGAS (AP) - A Nevada state senator says he's been diagnosed with nasal cancer.
State Sen. John Lee, a Democrat from North Las Vegas, says he is undergoing intensive treatment for the growth discovered in his nasal cavity.
Lee announced the news during a taping of the public affairs show, "Nevada Newsmakers" to be broadcast Monday. He suggested he planned to continue his bid for re-election.
Lee is seeking re-election this year to a second term. He previously served three terms in the Assembly and was the unsuccessful Democratic nominee for state controller in 2002, losing to the late Republican Kathy Augustine.
On the November ballot, he faces an unknown Republican, Ron McGinnis, and an Independent American Party candidate, Lance Hinton.
