Nanette Murphy says she's still amazed. Amazed at the destruction to her home. Amazed at what survived.
Like this sign that says "lord help me hang in there" and this family scrap book her grandmother put together before she died a year ago.
"I get to keep all these memories, (but why do you think it survived?) It survived because God meant it that way."
Take a look inside their living room, the stairs up to the bedrooms lead to sunlight, the kitchen is unidentifiable, the garage opens up to the roadway down below. But Nanette knows she has fared better than others in the neighborhood. The two homes next to her are leveled, a trombone sits in heap of rubble, a filing cabinet's contents are no longer secure.
This little boy whose family lost just about everything in the fire was able to salvage his big wheel even if the backend was a little melted.
Like he Nannette says its time to move on down the road.
"Move on, that's all you can do."
