Reno Residents Lose Their Home in Early Morning House Fire

RENO - Firefighters knocked down flames in Old Southwest Reno Monday morning. The blaze broke out around 4:00 am, destroying a duplex and cars in the driveway near Idlewild and Hunter Lake. Three tenants live in the burned unit, while another couple lives in the adjoining unit in back.

One tenant tells KOLO 8 News Now, they were partying, when he left to get more beer from the store. When he returned, the house was completely engulfed in flames. Neighbors quickly woke everyone up and made sure people were out of their homes.

No injuries were reported, but there is extensive damage. The tenant who spoke with KOLO 8 News Now, said he left with only a small shoebox of belongings and the clothes on his back.
