Washoe County commissioners have approved plans for a 35 (m) million dollar bond sale while negotiations continue to purchase a sprawling ranch in southwest Reno.
Yesterday's vote authorizing the sale comes as county officials
hope to reach a settlement with the Minneapolis company that owns
the one-thousand acre Ballardini Ranch.
A condemnation trial is scheduled to begin Monday in Washoe
County officials filed an eminent domain case in 2004, seeking
to acquire the property for a regional park.
Evans Creek L-L-C, the corporate owner, says the property is
worth about 96 (m) million dollars.
If no settlement is reached, a jury will decide the value.
