A 15 year old Reno resident was seriously injured when she fell from the hood of a moving car at 2:45 a.m. this morning. The teen was transported to the hospital with what appeared to be scrapes on the head. When she got to the hospital, her condition was listed as worse when several skull fractures were discovered and she was taken to ICU.
Police learned that the teen was out with her friends and was “hood surfing,” trying to stay on the hood of a moving vehicle while her friends drove the car through the parking lot of Reno High School. The driver of the involved vehicle was still on scene when the police arrived.
Any kind of hood or car surfing is extremely dangerous and illegal. The Reno Police Department strongly discourages such reckless and unsafe behavior. The likelihood of serious injury or death is very high.
There's no word yet on whether the driver of the vehicle will face any charges.
