Regional Transportation Commission officials have announced an ambitious round of Reno-area road improvement projects for this year.
Among top projects announced Sunday were the $21 million Moana
Lane extension in Reno, the $7.1 million Sparks Boulevard widening
in Sparks and the $4.8 million Robb Drive rehabilitation in Reno.
"It's an aggressive slate of projects this year," said Robert
Russell, RTC's director of engineering. "Our construction focus is
comprehensive, including industrial, downtown and rural areas."
Plans call for reconstruction of downtown Reno's busy Sierra and
Court streets by August.
In unincorporated areas of Washoe County, improvements are
slated for Caughlin Parkway as well as Thomas Creek Road.
RTC officials also are moving ahead with plans to improve flows
on the Reno area's busiest streets by retiming traffic signals.
RTC officials scheduled a Monday morning news conference to
detail the projects.
