More than 200 parole experts from around the world
are gathering this week in Sparks for an International Association
of Paroling Authorities conference.
Criminal justice officials from the United States, Canada,
Australia, Great Britain and other countries will attend training
classes on various subjects during the four-day event that began
Sunday at the Sparks Nugget.
Among conference topics are "Reshaping Public Opinion about
Parole for Sex Offenders" and "Successful Transition and Re-entry
for Safer Communities."
The keynote speaker at tomorrow's opening session will be
Congressman Robert C. Scott of Virginia.
