Reid: U.S. Generals in Afghanistan Need More Help

WASHINGTON (AP) - Sen. Harry Reid says U.S. generals running the
front-line war in Afghanistan need more help.

The Nevada Democrat completed a one-day trip to that country Wednesday and said the generals "made it pretty clear they need
more resources."

Reid says the U.S. has been so focussed on the war in Iraq that Afghanistan has not received the attention and resources it needs.

The Senate majority leader headed a group of five senators on the trip. They met with several military leaders, including Lt. Gen. David McKiernan, who is in charge of NATO forces.

Reid says all the senators agreed more needs to be done to combat the Taliban forces that have been surging in the eastern provinces bordering Pakistan.
