Hazmat Spill Blocks Ramps to I-80

SPARKS, Nev. (AP) - Authorities are cleaning up a chemical spill in an accident involving a semitrailer truck that closed a major Interstate 80 ramp in Sparks.

Both the eastbound on-ramp and off ramp to Sparks Boulevard were
shut down after the hazardous material spill about 8:30 Tuesday
morning.

Nevada state trooper Chuck Allen says for some unknown reason the middle trailer of the truck pulling three trailers tipped over on it's side. He says several corrosive and flammable materials spilled but he had no further details.

The state patrol, Sparks Fire Department and Washoe County District Health Department all responded to the accident. The ramp was expected to remain closed into the afternoon. Allen says no one was hurt and a private company was brought in to cleanup the spill.
