Fire Destroys 2 Garages in Southwest Reno

RENO, Nev. (AP) - A fire destroyed two garages at homes in southwest Reno and caused minor damage to one of the homes.

Officials say one resident suffered minor injuries. The cause of the Sunday afternoon blaze is under investigation.

Seventy-eight year old Melvin Winkle was treated for smoke inhalation after he tried to use a water hose to keep the fire from spreading to his home.

Winkle, who restores antique cars, says he lost a 1940 Ford sedan and a 1923 Franklin in his garage.

Three other cars were spared.

The fire also burned a power pole.
