WADSWORTH, NV - An abandon house and some nearby sheds in Wadsworth were destroyed by fire Thursday afternoon.
A smoldering pile of rubble is all that remains of the burned buildings on Railroad Avenue. Fire investigators say the home was fully engulfed with fire when the first crews arrived at around 2:30. The fire put up a thick column of black smoke that could be seen for miles.
The fire spread to adjacent outbuildings and threatened nearby homes to the south. But fire crews put up a wall of water between the blaze and the homes until flames died down.
Nearly 30 firefighters from Storey and Lyon counties and Reno fire department pitched in to put out the flames.
There's no word yet on what caused the fire.
