Personal Information Compromised at Saint Mary's
On Friday, June 12th at 5:00am, KOLO-TV completed the transition to digital television. Viewers who receive KOLO-TV with an antenna over the air will likely need to rescan their converter boxes or Digital TV’s at that time. RENO - Saint Mary’s Regional Medical Center has recently discovered that an intruder may have gained access to a database through the online registration area of their website. The database contains personal information including names, addresses, limited health information and Social Security numbers. According to Saint Mary’s, the database did not contain any hospital medical records or credit card numbers.

For more information, you can visit their website at www.saintmarysreno.com or by calling 775-770-7711.

I received a letter in the mail from St. Mary's warning me of the issue. I don't belong to St. Mary's and have never used their services, so I am wondering how they got my address to send the letter and other personal info. they say may have been stolen. Also the letter stated that social security numbers were not stolen but you said they were in the above statement you made on this website. Which is correct?

I think this story is lacking a lot of information. How many people were affected. Is the system fixed? Are the FBI or any other government agency's involved? How can Saint Mary's customers know if they are affected?

Per the letter I recieved today, 7/23, states, "The information in the database did NOT include... social security number or credit card information." Both you and channel 2 are reporting that SS#s were included. The most interesting thing to me personally is the fact that I have not, nor has any immediate family member had any dealing with any CHW facility or program. I want to know how and why they got my information and for what purpose.
