Washoe County School Board Trustee Dies of Cancer

Lezlie Porter, a longtime Washoe County school board trustee, died Tuesday morning. Porter was 60 and had cancer.

Porter served on the school board in the early nineties, then lost re-election, but returned in 1999, serving District "F". Her area included the eastern part of Washoe County from Spanish Springs to Geiger Grade.

When the other trustees believe it's appropriate, they will solicit names and then vote on a replacement for the last two years of her current term.

Porter leaves behind a husband, four children, and grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 26th at 1pm at the LDS Church at Rock and McCarran in Sparks.
