Nevada Governor Kenny Guinn is resting comfortably after undergoing hip replacement surgery today at a hospital in Las Vegas.
First lady Dema (DEE-ma) Guinn and the governor's office say he
came through surgery very well at Spring Valley Medical Center in
Las Vegas.
Lieutenant Governor Lorraine Hunt is acting governor while
Guinn's recuperating.
Doctor Todd Swanson performed the operation on Guinn's right
hip. It's something the 69-year-old governor's been planning for a
while.
Guinn's expected to remain at the hospital until Thursday or
Friday.
After that, he's due to spend several weeks recuperating --
meaning he'll restrict his travel and appearance schedule through
April.
Aide Steve George says Guinn expects to be on on the job
throughout his recovery.

Bean and mayonnaise sandwiches, that’s just one of the tasty menu items my Grandmother recalls from the Depression. I’m not saying that we’re in a depression. In fact, experts can’t even agree if we are officially in a recession or not. But one thing seems certain, prices are going up and wages are not. (Read Blog)

It seems so many people have a fear of public speaking. But imagine giving that dreaded speech amid wind gusting to 60 to 70 miles per hour, thick smoke, falling ash and a chaotic situation unfolding around you. That's basically my role when reporting on our local wildfires. (Read Blog)
