Armed Robbery Results In A Shooting And Stabbing

On Saturday July 19, 2008, at 10:20pm, Sparks Police responded to an armed robbery at Paul’s Market, 1550 Vance Way. Callers reported that several males robbed the store, and shot one clerk and stabbed the other.

On arrival, officers found Rachpal Singh with multiple lacerations to his head and hands. The second clerk, Amrik Singh, had been shot once in his side.

Witnesses and the victims told police that 4 white males entered the store wearing white bandanas over their faces. One suspect was swinging a knife at Rachpal, who was behind the counter. The suspect yelled he wanted the money out of the register and his wallet. Rachpal tried defending himself with a broom, and suffered multiple lacerations to the arms, hands and head.

Amrik was in a back room and ran out when he heard the commotion. Amrik began throwing 2 liter soda bottles at the subject attacking
his brother. A second suspect was armed with a revolver and fired several shots at Amrik, striking him once in the side.

There were two female customers in the store, and the suspect with the knife grabbed one at knife point, took her behind the counter and demanded she open the register. She was able to get away without any injuries.

The suspects then fled on foot to a car they had parked at 16th and Vance Way. The suspects did not get any money or property from the robbery, and the car is possibly a white Nissan Maxima.

Rachpal and Amrik were treated at Renown Medical Center, and their injuries are not life threatening.

The only description of the suspects is 4 white males wearing bandanas over their faces. Anyone with Information is asked to contact the Sparks Police Department at 353-2231.
