There's been a leadership shakeup at a rural Elko County Volunteer Fire District.
The Tecoma Volunteer Fire District's Chief, Bob Ferrell and his deputy chief, Brent Palmer, were fired Wednesday over "liability" issues, according to Elko County Manager Robert Stokes.
Contacted by phone, Ferrell said he was told he was let go in retailation for his and his deputies complaints over mismanagement of resources by the county and the Nevada Department of Forestry.
In a past Elko Daily News story, Palmer is quoted as accusing NDF of terrorist tactics.
Stokes would not comment further other than to say this was the first time he has ever had to deal with one of the county's 15 rural fire districts in more than seven years on the job.
