Little Valley Fire

Crews are responding to a fire burning in south Washoe Valley by Hobart Reservoir. Sierra Fire Protection district officials say the fire has burned five acres, however, it has not reached any heavy timber areas. There are several engines, hand crews, and at least one air tanker fighting the fire. The winds are not a factor at this time.

Fire crews have the Little Valley fire 60 percent contained. They say full containment is expected late Wednesday night.

The fire started around 3:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Little Valley area southwest of Washoe Valley. There are a few homes in the area, but none were threatened.

Several fire engines and hand crews were being helped by air support, including an air tanker and one helicopter.

There's no word on what caused the fire.
