For the second time this week, a skier has been killed in an accident at the Northstar-at-Tahoe ski resort near Truckee.
Today's victim has been identified as 42-year-old Elizabeth
Knapp of Rochester, New York.
Placer County Sheriff Edward Bonner says she died after she
apparently collided with a tree at about nine o'clock this morning.
Knapp was skiing with family members when the accident occurred.
The sheriff says the Northstar Ski patrol tried to revive her but
she was pronounced dead at the scene.
The fatal accident comes two days after a 20-year-old San Jose
man apparently struck a tree and was killed at the same Sierra
resort north of Lake Tahoe.
Benjamin Michael Sumner died Tuesday afternoon.
Both deaths are being investigated by the sheriff's coroner's
