People in Virginia City can finally take that long-awaited shower.
A leak in the main that siphons water from Marlette Lake near
Lake Tahoe to the Comstock has been repaired. But it will take
awhile to recharge the pipe.
Storey County Emergency Management Director Joe Curtis says the
emergency water conservation notice imposed when the line broke
Monday remains in place until at least noon today.
It takes five or six hours to fill the pipe that flows to the
reservoir near Virginia City. Then lines have to be flushed for
several hours before they can begin refilling the three reservoir
tanks that hold water for Virginia City, Silver City and Gold Hill.
Curtis says things will be back to normal by noon.
