BISHOP, Calif. (AP) - A search has been called off for a San Diego hiker who has been missing for a week in the Sierra Nevada near Bishop.
In a statement, Inyo County Sheriff William Lutze said "search operations will be suspended" for 44-year-old Ric DeVan.
DeVan was on a holiday trip with his wife, Vickie, and 14-year-old stepdaughter. They hiked together the afternoon of July 3rd. DeVan went on an overnight trip alone and planned to reunite with his family at Treasure Lakes on July 4th. His family reported him missing on July 5th.
His last confirmed location was on July 4th, when he signed the register book at the 13,085-foot summit of Mount Goode.
