A man the Nevada Highway Patrol says is wanted for questioning in a drive-by killing in Canada was arrested today in Reno for speeding and driving under the influence.
N-H-P Trooper Chuck Allen says 29-year-old Jason Thomas Ashworth
of Edmonton, Alberta, was stopped for traveling at 85 miles an hour
in a 55 mile-an-hour construction zone on Interstate 80 near the
Keystone Avenue interchange in west Reno.
The arresting trooper said Ashworth showed signs of intoxication
and failed field sobriety tests.
He was arrested for D-U-I and speeding.
A driver's license and wanted persons check showed that he was
considered a person of interest in a homicide in Canada, apparently
in the province of Alberta.
Police in Edmonton provided no details of the case.
Allen said it apparently stems from an incident that occurred in
2002 or 2003.
