A 20-year-old Gardnerville woman was killed in a rear end collision after she stopped for a red light on U-S 50 east of Carson City.
The Nevada Highway Patrol says the woman, whose name has not
been released, was stopped at the intersection with Airport Road
when she was rear-ended by a sports utility vehicle driven by
19-year-old Joni Salvo of Carson City.
Salvo also hit a pickup stopped in the left-turn lane. The male
driver of that vehicle was uninjured.
The driver of the car died on the way to the hospital. Salvo was
flown by Care Flight to Washoe Medical Center and was in serious
but stable condition.
