Authorities say a construction worker has died and two remain buried after a trench collapsed today at a development in northwest Reno.
Reno Fire Department spokesman Steve Frady confirms this evening
that one of the workers who had been trapped in the pipeline trench
Two people remained buried as of five-30 p-m.
Frady says the foot of one man still in the trench is wedged
against a large pipe, making it difficult to extricate him.
A third worker already has been removed and flown to Washoe
Medical Center by helicopter.
Frady did not confirm which of the workers had died.
The three were installing a pipeline for a storm drain system at
the Somerset Golf Course when the banks of the trench caved in at
about three p-m.
