Investigators are trying to identify a woman whose body was found floating in Lake Tahoe.
Douglas County sheriff's deputies say the body could be that of
65-year-old Khuteja Banoo Imam, a South Lake Tahoe motel co-owner
who was last seen January 12th.
Her car was found a few days later at nearby Camp Richardson.
Deputies say D-N-A testing will be needed to identify the woman,
and results can be expected in two to four weeks.
A kayaker found the body floating yesterday in Glenbrook Bay on
Lake Tahoe's east shore.
An autopsy was performed today by the Washoe County coroner's
office, but authorities say the cause of death is pending
Family members say it was unusual for Imam to leave the motel
unless she was shopping or attending to business.
Imam and her husband have owned and operated the Crystal Range
Motel since 1994.
The body, found in shallow waters, was decomposed.
