This is the 14th supercenter to be built in the state, and the first in Sparks.
Company officials say it will be a boon for the local economy, employing 500 new people.
Local economy say the supercenter is good and bad for the community.
Good: because it brings new jobs.
Bad: because it could drive out similar mom and pop stores which have better quality but higher prices.
In the past, Wal-mart has come under fire from critics for paying low wages and having low skilled workers.
Sparks city leaders say they wouldn't have approved the project if it wouldn't be a benefit to its citizens.
