Thousands of hunters from around the world are converging in Reno this week for Safari Club International's 34th annual convention.
The conference is a boon to the local economy at a time of year
when Reno's tourism traffic typically slows.
Twenty-two thousand people are expected to attend the gathering
of big game hunters, guides, outfitters. The convention begins
tomorrow (Wednesday) and runs through Saturday at the Reno-Sparks
Convention Center.
Former President George H.W. Bush is scheduled to be the guest
speaker at a dinner and auction Saturday night at the Reno Hilton.
The convention is NOT open to the public, but memberships can be
purchased for 55 dollars. It will cost an extra 125 dollars per day
to attend the convention, or 300 dollars for four days.
