Private Morberg was born in Alaska, but his family moved to Sparks about 12 years ago.
So...he went to elementary, middle, and high school in the area.
Shortly after finishing Washoe High, Morberg enlisted in the Army.
Friends say he wanted to follow in the footsteps of his mother's side of the family.
Her brothers and father were in the military.
The family says Josh had a strong desire to serve his country.
He left last month for Fort Hood, Texas.
Josh had only been in Iraq 10 days before he was killed.
The Department of Defense says an enemy bomb exploded near his patrol...as he was looking for insurgents.
Air National Guard Chaplain, Bill Rohrer, says he had the tough job of telling the family.
Rohrer says this was the third death notification, he's been a part of, in the last three weeks.
He says none of them are easy.
The family wants answers and many times he doesn't have them.
Morberg's family wants to know when their son's body is being brought back home.
Rohrer says the earliest the soldier's remain would return to Nevada is next week.
