Revitalized California Avenue Neighborhood

Reno has never really been known for its boutique-like shopping. But now, right here on California Avenue, five or six shops have recently opened just in time for holiday shopping

ClayNichols at California and Plumas has been doing bang-up business in its first holiday season in operation, according to Jackie Clay, half of the ownership team.

The boutique -- specializing in home décor and gifts -- helped kick off California Avenue's revitalization last April...offering an alternative to what shoppers may find in large retail chain stores.

Same can be said about Shoe, ClayNichol's neighbor. Around the holidays, owner Serena Robb says people stop in to treat themselves to a fanciful pair of footwear. She believes her downtown location has been beneficial to business.

The Attic -- a clothing boutique -- is not new to the neighborhood, but is under new ownership.

Jenna Harlin says this holiday season has been good to her, as she makes sure her inventory includes a large selection of gift items under one hundred bucks.

And if you're still in need of last minute gifts, all three of these stores will be open for a limited time on Christmas Eve.
