Higher Water Rates Considered

Washoe County water customers will have to pay higher rates under a proposal being considered by county commissioners.
The bulk of the county's 20-thousand water customers who are on
meters would see their rates jump by 14-point-five percent early
next year under the plan.
Others in Lemmon Valley are charged a flat rate. But they would
be limited to 65-thousand gallons a month, or face mandatory
conversion to a meter.
Water officials say the increase is needed because of higher
The average median monthly bill would rise from 28-dollars-92
cents to 33-dollars-11 cents.
Flat rates would rise to 79-dollars-50 cents, up from
67-dollars-97 cents.
