The fire lit up the night sky on Friday...and could be seen for miles on Highway 395, north of Carson City.
There's not much left of this once sprawling estate in Washoe Valley.
It had been on the market for a few months.
Homeowners had hoped to sell it...for one-point-eight million dollars.
The fire caused at least that in damages.
Shortly after the fire, the roof caved in...and much of the evidence is buried underneath mounds of debris.
All firefighters have to go on are...measurements, photographs, and talking to neighbors.
Fortunately, nobody was home at the time of the fire.
Neighbors first reported seeing flames around 6:30 Friday night.
The homeowners had left a few hours earlier...for a Christmas party in town.
They returned to find themselves without a home, and without any answers as to what happened.
