The Lyon County School District's request for a residential construction tax to help schools keep pace with the county's rapid growth has won approval.
The Nevada Tax Commission decided to allow the 16-hundred dollar
tax on each new residential housing unit.
The tax will be collected by Lyon County and the cities of
Fernley and Yerington starting January first.
School board member Barbara Johnson hailed the approval, saying
it will help the district meet its building needs better.
