Storm Dumps On Truckee Meadows

A late autumn snow storm has dumped several inches of snow and imposed road controls on all roads in the Sierra and Northwest Nevada.
A winter storm warning is in effect for the mountain with a heavy snow advisory in effect for Northwestern Nevada. The snow advisory extends from the Carson Valley north to northern Washoe County.
Chains are mandatory over Donner Summit. Chain or snow tires are required over the Mount Rose Summit.
The valley floor has received over an inch of snow with three or more inches in the foothills. By 11 am the snow had changed to rain the foothills and elevations below six thousand fee, but showfall remains heavy in the upper elevations.
The Pacific storm should move through the area today, but travel will remain difficult through the Sierra. Motorists shoud be oprepared to long delays and and very hazardous driding conditions.
