A suspect shot by a Washoe County sheriff's detective during an investigation in Sun Valley nearly a month ago died today at Washoe Medical Center.
Detective Tom Green shot 37-year-old Roy Wilkins when Wilkins
confronted him with a handgun on the evening of November fourth.
Wilkins was taken by helicopter to Washoe Medical Center and
treated for his injuries. Sheriff Dennis Balaam says he succumbed
to his injuries while receiving care at the hospital this morning.
Green, a 13-year veteran of the force, was placed on routine
paid leave immediately following the shooting.
The Reno Police Department, Washoe County Sheriff's Office and
District Attorney's office are continuing to investigate the case.
