New Storm Hits Sierra

A warm, wet and windy storm bearing down on the Sierra and western Nevada could dump as much as three feet of
snow in the highest elevations.
A winter storm warning is in effect above seven-thousand feet
until tomorrow morning. By that time, forecasters say 18 to 36
inches of snow could be on the ground. About two to four inches are
likely below seven-thousand feet.
Strong winds also are forecast with gusts to 50 miles an hour at
lower levels and over 100 miles an hour over the ridges.
A wind warning is in effect for western Nevada for southwest
winds 20 to 40 miles an hour with gusts to 70 miles an hour.
Highs today will be in the 40s to the low 50s in the mountains
and 55 to 65 in the western valleys. By contrast, highs in Las
Vegas will reach only the low 50s.
