2 Bodies Found in Desert Near Las Vegas, Victims Identified

LAS VEGAS (AP) - Las Vegas police are investigating a suspected murder-suicide in the desert about four miles east of the city after an apparent domestic dispute.

KLAS-TV reports 22-year-old Sinthia Stephanie Cruz died Friday from multiple gunshot wounds. Her ex-boyfriend, Angel Omar Cruz, died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the chest.

Homicide detectives say dispatchers received a call about 7 p.m. Friday that indicated Angel Cruz had taken his ex-girlfriend from her home in the 300 block of Steelhead Lane.

A caller told police about 10 p.m. that he found the two bodies in a desert area southeast of Nellis Air Force Base off of East Lake Mead Boulevard. The woman was inside a vehicle and the man was on the ground next to it.

The case remains under investigation.
LAS VEGAS (AP) - Las Vegas police say murder-suicide is suspected in the deaths of two people whose bodies were found late Friday in a desert area near East Lake Mead Boulevard.

Police say emergency dispatchers received a call around 7 p.m. about a woman being taken from her home by her ex-boyfriend.

About three hours later they received another report of two bodies in and near a vehicle in the desert.

Detectives on Saturday said the people and the vehicle were the same as described in the earlier report.

Names of the deceased were not immediately released and autopsies are planned to determine an exact cause of death.
