Reno could be joining Las Vegas in the monorail business.
A monorail or a light rail system are two possibilities for
eventually linking the University of Nevada north of downtown and
the Mount Rose Highway south of the city.
Both would cost somewhere around one (b) billion dollars.
A more likely plan would be to serve the busy eleven-mile
corridor with a bus rapid transit system offering many of the
benefits of light rail at a fraction of the cost.
All those possibilities will be among those discussed tomorrow
during a community meeting designed to garner public input on the
future of mass transit along Virginia Street.
Las Vegas has a monorail along the Las Vegas Strip. It has been
plagued by mechanical problems and troubled by poor ridership.
