RENO, NV - For kids at 19 area schools, it's Christmas once again. Two schools in Truckee and 17 in Reno received thousands of dollars worth of playground equipment Thursday, all thanks to the annual Santa Crawl. In December, the pub crawl drew more than 12,000 celebrants from all around Nevada and California. In addition to benefiting local businesses, sales of the signature crawl cups help support local schools.

So far this year, Reindeer Charities, organizers of the crawl have donated more than $23,000 dollars to local schools. That includes the $16,000 worth of of fitness and sports equipment including basketballs, footballs, soccer balls, and jump ropes delivered this week. Before the year is over, the group hopes to reach $30,000 in donations.

Principal of Mount Rose Elementary, Krissy Brown says these items need constant replacement because of wear and tear, and loss over the fence. Unfortunately, it's not always always in the budget. This is the second year her school got a helping hand from Reindeer Charities. Brown, Dodson, Donner Springs, Double Diamond, Gomes, Hidden Valley, Glenshire, Huffaker, Hunter Lake, Mathews, Melton, Mount Rose, Peavine, Pleasant Valley, Smith, Truckee, Towles, Westergard, and Winnemucca Elementary Schools were chosen to receive the equipment based on their budgets. Local business Mountain Hardware and Sports of Truckee, pitched in too. They worked Reindeer Charities the most bang for their bucks, then delivered the items to all 19 schools.
