Hostile Fire Cause of Local Soldiers Deaths

The military now confirms that two local National Guardsmen were killed because their Chinook helicopter was shot down by hostile fire in Afghanistan.

Memorial services will be held for both soldiers next week.

Chief Warrant officer John Flynn will be remembered at a service Monday at 2 p.m. at the Summit Christian Church in Sparks, 7075 Pyramid Way.

Sergeant Patrick Stewart will be honored at Rancho San Rafael Park on Wednesday at 10:45 a.m.
