RENO, Nev. (AP) - Gasoline prices continue to skyrocket as the summer driving season nears, with motorists in Nevada paying 26
cents a gallon more than a month ago.

Triple-A Nevada says the statewide average for a gallon of self-serve unleaded hit a record $3.72, 47 cents higher than May 2007.

Nationally, the average price rose 40 cents since April to $3.73.

Triple-A spokesman Michael Geeser says the rising costs at the pump are being fueled by record oil prices.

In Nevada, the most expensive gas was found in Elko, where the price jumped 51 cents to $3.89.

Prices rose 22 cents in Reno to $3.80 and 23 cents in Carson City to $3.76.

In the Las Vegas area, the average price was $3.66, up 27 cents to 30 cents, depending on location.
