The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) are investigating two crashes that occurred in the early morning hours of May 10, 2008.

At approximately 2:30 am Friday morning, a Dodge 4x4 vehicle was traveling northbound on Eastlake Blvd. in Washoe Valley. The driver, a 32 year old male, lost control of the vehicle near Freckles Court. The vehicle crossed the roadway and into a field rolling twice. The driver and 21 year old female passenger were ejected from the vehicle and were pronounced dead at the scene.

At approximately 5:50 am, a white 2 door sedan was traveling westbound on Encanto Drive off Calle De La Plata in Spanish Springs. The driver, a 21 year old male, lost control of the vehicle and it drove into a ditch. The vehicle rolled and caught on fire trapping the victim inside. The Fire Department arrived on scene and doused the flames allowing emergency teams to rescue the driver who was seriously injured. The victim was taken by care-flight to Renown Medical Center.

It is unknown at this time if speed or alcohol played a factor in either crash. The names of the victims are being withheld until family is notified.

I am sure that Hrslvr1 knows by now that this information came from the Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT). The fact that his family was first on the scene doesn't mean she was driving and who cares...what is done is done.

I cannot believe this!! What kind of reporters do we have out there?? HE WAS NOT DRIVING!!! If you cannot verify something, don't report it. Simple as that, or here's a novel idea: research the facts and make sure you know who was driving. He wasn't driving, she was.
