I think this is a wonderful contest. I have adopted several mustangs and love them all. They are completely unspoiled, and easy to gain their trust. I believe this particular program is really good for those persons out there who say that mustangs are untrainable, and why bother. I know someone I will send this article to that needs to see another side to the mustang story.
Good Job and THANKS Terri for doing this story. Saunya and Diva we are so excited and thrilled with you progess. We can't wait for the horse expo. Anyone out there, who may be looking for a REALLY NICE mare. Diva may be the girl for you. She is so quiet and smart and all of us who know and love her want her to go to a REALLY good home with someone who knows how to ride and will take the time to move her on to reach her full potential. The foundation that Saunya is putting on her is EXCEPTIONAL. So come on all you fellow Reno folks Diva could be the horse love of your life. If I din't already have 6 horses she would be coming home with me. Wouldn't it be great if she found a home locally, maybe Saunya could help her new owner complete Diva's already exceptional training. Way to go Saunya. AKA SWMBO Ona
Saunya is my dads cousin. We are so proud of you!!! If anyone can do this we all know you can!!! Joanna McElrath
My first horse was also a mustang -- a black and white paint, and I also was bucked off many times as a teenager. They are not easy to handle until they gain your trust. Saunya is my HERO when it comes to horses. She mentor me when I got back into riding, remembering all those falls and helped build my confidence to ride again. Saunya was seriously injured about 18 months ago and she truly shows what is means TO GET BACK ON AND RIDE. This lady has done about everything with horses except being a jockey and will be a hard one to beat at the Cal Expo. She loves her animals and they in turn love and respect her allowing her to get the most out of them. She has a special bond with her horses and I am very hopeful she will win this competition. I, for one, will be there cheering her on. Thank you for doing the news story so I could get caught up with an old friend and her activities.
My 1st horse was a Nevada Mustang and my daughter is presently riding an Oregon Kiger Mustang. By sheer coincidence I saw the Extreme Mustang Makeover on RFD-TV. When I learned of the Western States Mustang Challenge I was so excited I just had to drive over to see the mustangs as their new trainers collected them. The wild horse handlers were as gentle as they could be with their charges and gracious to all of us spectators with our many questions. It's been a pleasure to learn of Diva's progress and I appreciate the coverage KOLO is doing on this wonderful little mare. Hoping to meet you in June.
YAY!! Please everyone interested in horses. Mustangs are wonderful horses. They are easy keepers. loving and gentle.
Thank you Terri and Kolo 8 for doing this story. I am thrilled and very proud of my Little " diva". Saunya Bolton
