School Disturbance Plan Investigated

CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) - Eight Carson City High School students are suspected of plotting a "major disturbance" at the high school, Chief Sheriff's Deputy Steve Schuette said Thursday.

Schuette said authorities were tipped to the suspected plot and learned that the students planned to possibly set off smoke bombs, firecrackers and ink bombs.

"Had this occurred, it would have sounded like gunfire and come in to us as an 'active shooter' and the danger to the student body would have been huge," said Sheriff Ken Furlong.
