The Nevada Supreme Court meets tomorrow
to hear arguments in a divisive Douglas County growth limitation
Voters approved the initiative three years ago. It caps the
number of new residences at 280 a year.
That hasn't set well with developers and some county officials.
After a suit in district court, settlement talks that failed,
appeals from both sides and numerous legal briefs, the state's
highest court has scheduled arguments. Each side will get one hour.
Key issues are whether the initiative is constitutional and
whether the public has the authority to establish legislative
matters through the initiative process.
