Firefighters have contained a wildfire at Oxbow Nature Study Park near Dickerson Rd. In West Reno.

The fire burned mostly north of the Truckee River, however burning embers resulted in several spot fires on the south side near Idewild Drive.

Reno Fire Department Battalion Chief Rick Kajans says several condo complexes south of the river were threatened.

There were no major injuries. However, Kajans says the burning embers did hit firefighters working to extinguish the blaze.

Kajans says firefighters were able to prevent the blaze from destroying any structures. The park that burned is estimated at 10 acres.

Firefighters were up against thick smoke, blowing ash and embers and heat -- the temperature neared 80.

The fire burned into the trees, causing smoking tree limbs to fall into the river.

The fire broke out at about 1:45 p.m. Sunday and appeared to be contained several hours later. The fire is suspected to be human-caused, according to RFD.
