Sounds of timber, echoed through the Carson range today, as hot shot crews were rehabilitating the Waterfall burn area.
These trees are unstable and cause a risk to the public.
Crews are cutting them so that they fall sideways.
The forest service says this will keep the soil in place.
Then, the seedlings will have a better chance of growing...when they're planted in the spring.
Many residents have complained about the hills being still black.
This same time next year, we could see some green again.
