A special senate committee has held several meetings now. The committee is made up of district members, senators, and members of the business community. Their goal is to figure out how to fund major renovations for our area's older schools.
The Washoe County School District needs 393-million dollars to fix and maintain older schools.
Possible sources of the money could be a sales tax increase, real estate transfer tax increase, government services increase or modified business tax increase.
The committee will meet again on April 23rd. Their recomendations will be put to a vote on the November ballot.
